Saughter and May advised Rolls-Royce plc, in respect of the entry by Rolls-Royce SMR (a joint venture between Rolls-Royce plc, ČEZ Group, Qatar Investment Authority and BNF Resources) into a landmark contract with Great British Energy – Nuclear (GBE-N) that paves the way for the design and delivery of the first small modular reactors (SMRs) in the UK. The two-stage contract with GBE-N will enable site-specific design activity and preparations for the site build at Wylfa, on the coast of Ynys Môn (Anglesey) in North Wales, as well as allowing Rolls-Royce SMR to order long lead-time equipment from the supply chain.
Saughter and May worked closely with the Rolls-Royce team including Will Morris (General Counsel – Corporate), Oliver Whiddett (Group Treasurer), Rachel Johnson (Chief Counsel – Finance) and Daniel Llaneza Vasquez (VP - M&A).
